Interpretation - This house is not for sale

'This house is not for sale' ist the first album that was written, recorded and produced without Richie. It was released in November 2016 and debuted in a lot of countries at no. 1  (sure..it's a Bon Jovi record.. ;))

The firs single which has the same title can maybe be compared to 'Have a nice day' from a musical pint of view. It has a similar beginning and the guitar ia used in a similar way. The structure of the lyrics is like in this song, too.

If you first hear the title you may ask yourself: 'Which house? Why not for sale?', but if you are a real fan you quickly realize what the words mean. 'This house' is of course the band and 'not for sale'  tells us that the band is stronger than ever, even if there were some changes and struggles within the last years, the band will always stay the strong unit of brothers that it was from the beginning on.

Already in the first lines the 'house - metaphore' is used when the band members are described as 'these four walls' that 'have go a story to tell'. Even if 'the door is off the hinges' 'this house is not for sale' because Jon 'set each stone and [...] hammered each nail' to built this house. We all know that the band wouldn't exist without him and that he is the driving force behind every single detail.

For him the house also symbolizes memories and the realization of dreams: 'Where memories live and the dream don't fail' as much as his home: 'I'm coming home'. He tells us that the band is his life and that he gave his everything for it: 'Now what built these walls is in my veins, [...] , this heart, this soul, this house is not for sale'.

So, for those who ever doubted Bon Jovi and its success: 'This house was built on trust, that's what it is and always was, no wrecking ball could knock it down, this house was built on higher ground!'
