'Keep the faith' is often described as Bon Jovi's first 'Comeback album' (the second is 'Crush'). The title track is one of the bands most well known songs in general and another signature song in terms of their values and message. Lines like 'It's hard to be strong when there's no one to dream on' or 'try to hold on' motivate to be strong and have faith.
'Keep the faith' also shows that the band has grown as institution, but also the members for example because of solo achievements which helped to find new points of view and inspiration outside the band. The lyrics to the song speak a lot more about social issues and more serious topics than the last ones, but also - as in the title track - about the band and their still strong brotherhood and their belief in it.
In the end of the song there's a part where we can imagine that the band wrote about the time between the end of the 'New Jersey' -Tour and the 'Keep the faith' album where they first were completely burned out and didn't talk to one another and then all started solo projects 'Walking in the footsteps of society's lies, I don't like what I see no more, sometimes I wait forever to stand out in the rain, so no one sees me cryin', tryin' to wash away the pain'. It seems that they describe the hard time and all the difficulties they had, but at the same time try to say: It's OK, you have to walk on and concentrate on the moment and maybe the future, but not on what has already happened. Of course, this is not always easy, but they tell us that it's the only way to find a good life. As they are an optimistic band, they strongly belief in this and try to help us keeping the faith.
