Interpretation - Just older

'Just older' is another song from Bon Jovi's 2000 album 'Crush'. Unfortunately, 'It's my life' is a really strong and commonly loved song, so that the rest of the album is often forgotten.

Jon once explained that he really wanted to have the song on the album. He even said that he'd do a solo album if the band didn't want to have it on the record.

To read the lyrics is like reading Jon's autobiography. There are lines like: 'When I hit the streets I was 17'; 'after all these years and miles of memorys, I'm still chasing dreams' and 'When we took on the world, when we were young and brave'.

In addition, it is pointed out that the band ia feeling good with their past and that they're always looking forward to the future. Their typical optimism can be seen in lines like: 'The skin I'm in, it's alright with me, it's not old - just older' and a little bit of self-irony: 'Well, I look in the mirror, I don't hate what I see, there's a few more lines staring back at me' or 'If you see coach T, tell him I've cut my hair'.

Their belief in faith and brotherhood is mirrored in the lyrics to this song, too. For example in lines like: 'We got secrets that we'll take to the grave, and we're standing here shoulder to shoulder'.
