Interpretation - Fast cars

Another song from 2009s album 'The Circle' is 'Fast cars'. It's a perfect example for a Bon Jovi song about life. They never wrote about things like the global warming or poverty in Africa, but the more they grew up personally the more the content of their songs changed and the more they talked about society and the people's problems.

In this song people are described as cars that drive on a highway which is a description for life. 'There's no turning back on the highway of life, fast cars, we are fast cars'.

As always, the song tries to give hope and tells us to look forward. We should all 'just turn around and leave the past behind us now'. The next lines use the 'car metaphore' once again: 'Come on, we ain't gonna crash, this time we ain't slowing down'. Jon and Richie tell us to take our lives as they are and to not being afraid of what will happen the next day. They describe us as 'fast cars on a long ride' and we should 'take [our] foot off the brake'.
