'Burning bridges' is the title track of the Bon Jovi album released in 2015. Not as usual the title track is not the first but the last song on the album, but this is not the only special thing about it. The album was released as an album for the fans becuase it contains only songs written in the last ten years that didn't make one of the other albums in this period of time.
Actually, Bon Jovi had to release one more album to fulfill their contract with their label which recently ended their common work and partnership. This is exactly the subject of the song 'Burning bridges'. Maybe this song could be compared to the single 'Have a nice day' because it came out of a really frustrating and painful situation for Jon. Moreover, he deals with the situation through writing an ironical song.
He first describes his career in a few lines: 'I've seen a million faces and I've lived a couple lives' and tells us what we can find in the lyrics to the song: 'Here's our history for all to see, the smiles and all the scars'.
Then he begins to directly talk to the record company people: 'First the rising, then the falling, call this chapter shooting stars, that must sound good from where you are'. Jon goes on to tell them that 'Here's one last song you can sell' and that they should 'play it for [their] friends in hell'.
Another important thing is loyalty. Jon is something like a symbol for loyalty because he always stressed that this is what held the band together and what helped him through his whole life. So, it's clear that he talks about this topic, too. 'After 30 years of loyalty they let you dig the grave' shows that he's very upset and frusrated about the situation.
All that's left to say is that the whole album is designed in a very simple way because of the frustrating situation. There are no lyrics, no photos and even the text with the 'thank-you-part' is left out.
