Interpretation - August 7, 4:15

In 1997 Jon Bon Jovi released his second solo album titled 'Destination Anywhere' (which he would maybe consider his first because when he wrote 'Blaze of Glory' he only had to rewrite the scenario of the movie as he describes it).

One of the most outstanding songs here is 'August 7, 4:15'  which is about a real and very personal issue. On august 7 in 1996 the daughter of Paul Korzilius, a long time friend of Jon and member of Bon Jovi management was killed. The exact reason or cause of her death is still unknown, but it is possible that she was hit by a car.

This event effected Jon a lot, so he wrote this song about it and managed that many people remember her every time they listen to this song.

In the lyrics to the song, the narrator describes the setting: 'It was another day, a perfect Texas afternoon, a mother and two children play the way they always do' which shows us that such tragical things happen every day, no matter how normal they seem to be. The narrator can't believe what happened: ' Tell me it was just a dream, august 7, 4:15, God closed his eyes and the world got mean, august 7, 4:15'. Later he also writes about the driver of the car that hit the girl: 'Somewhere someone's conscience is like a burning bed, the flames are all around you, how you gonna sleep again?'. It is easy to see that Jon spent a lot of time thinking about this event, but still can't believe how this could have happened.
